  • 67 Steps
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey discusses crime prevention strategy with Mayor Michael Nutter.

About

How do police leaders (like former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey shown above) create coherent and effective crime plans? They use a structured approach to tackling crime and disorder. This course is an overview of the Police Commander's Crime Reduction course, featuring the PANDA model. It is based on the award-winning book "Reducing Crime: A Companion for Police Leaders" and the three-day Police Commander's Crime Reduction course delivered in person by Dr Jerry Ratcliffe. It provides a short and accessible overview of the key components of the five-stage PANDA model along with an understanding of the theories and checklists behind the model. After completion of this course, you will be more familiar with the different parts of the PANDA model, how the checklists function, and more versed in crime prevention generally. The course is specifically designed for busy mid-to-senior police leaders. It will also be of benefit to crime analysis staff and intelligence managers. NOTE: This program is geared towards law enforcement employees. You must use a work email address to join. As a self paced course, once you have a subscription, you can complete it in your own time and return to refresh your memory on program components for a year.
